It Happened Again

You may remember the polka dot dress story; if not, you can read about it here

Well, we had another feminist flare-up moment just the other day.

Sweetie Pie #2 was helping me with the dishes. She loves one-on-one time with Mommy or Daddy, so any time she can get that she's all over it. She didn't much care that she was actually working...or so I thought. I don't remember what our conversation was actually about but I distinctly remember this comment "I'm practicing to be a woman." I shot her glance, laughed it off, and we finished the chore.

Later that same night she's helping me fold laundry when she says "I love learning how to be a woman." This time that little feminist voice inside my head replied, "Doing dishes and folding laundry is NOT what being a woman is about!!" But the discipling mom in me simply smiled and said, "Yes you are."

When I related the story to Daddy a few nights later he helped me to remember something important.

Proverbs 31 gives us a pretty good picture of the superwoman we're all cut out to be. And though she had her own business and was financially independent; she did the dishes, cooked the meals, and folded the laundry. So yeah, being a woman is more than dishes and laundry; but it is dishes and laundry too. And I am so glad I didn't take that joy away from her.
